Position Summary

At Vaxart we are creating novel oral vaccines that target the COVID-19 virus (SARS-CoV-2), Influenza, Norovirus and Human Papillomavirus. Our mission is the promotion of global health through the development of effective vaccines that can be administered by tablet rather than by injection, providing for the simple and efficient distribution and administration of safe vaccines in any setting.
We are seeking a self-motivated, organized and energetic Research Associate II/III to join our R&D team to support advancing our vaccine platform in pre-clinical studies and clinical trials.
Position Responsibilities
- Conduct various cell-based and biochemical assays such as ELISA, MSD, ELISpot, flow cytometry, viral plaque assays, and western blots
- Experience planning, execute experiments, analyzing data and interpreting results
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with other R&D team members
- Ensure equipment is in working order and maintain accurate records of all data and procedures
- Assist the R&D team in assay development by recommending improvements to procedures and protocols
- Capable of working both independently and in a team setting
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Masters Degree in Molecular and/or Cell Biology, Immunology, Microbiology or relevant discipline
- 1-2 years of laboratory experience in either an academic or industry setting
- Experience developing and optimizing laboratory protocols
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office
- Excellent interpersonal communication and organization skills with exceptional attention to detail
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Hands on experience in mammalian tissue cell culture and sterile technique
- Prior experience handling of human biological specimens or working with murine models
- Familiarity with flow cytometry staining of immune cells and FlowJo software
- Experience using GraphPad Prism software
- Previous biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry experience
